Former US President Bill Clinton is set to embark on a two-day visit to Guyana to participate in a forum aimed at bolstering partnerships and investment opportunities in the region.

The United Caribbean Forum, organized by the Dominican Republic Chamber of Commerce in Guyana, will see Clinton alongside Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, CEO of Go-Invest Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, and prominent figures from the private sector.

During a press briefing, Dominican Republic Ambassador to Guyana, Ernesto Torres-Pereyra, highlighted Clinton’s keen interest in gaining firsthand insight into Guyana’s development. He emphasized Guyana’s potential to serve as a global model for building a society based on solid values and institutions, promoting transparency, and leveraging its natural resources, including hydrocarbons, for success.

The forum will focus on Caribbean collaboration in key developmental areas such as food security and energy, aiming to strengthen regional security and enhance the capabilities of the private sector across nations.

Investment opportunities, particularly within the private sectors of both countries, will take center stage in discussions. Torres-Pereyra emphasized the significance of bilateral collaboration and Guyana’s attractiveness to international investors under President Ali’s leadership, highlighting the country’s potential for economic transformation and its commitment to maintaining peace and stability.

He underscored the forum’s role in aligning with President Ali’s vision for economic advancement and readiness to tackle forthcoming challenges, aiming to showcase Guyana’s unique societal model and its potential global impact.

Torres-Pereyra concluded by emphasizing the forum’s contribution to showcasing viable alternatives for Guyana’s development, asserting that Guyana’s progress will reverberate worldwide, as the nation navigates its economic transformation within a framework of peace and stability.
