(ONN) – The entertainment industry, in particular, the Jamaican dancehall community is mourning the death of foundation Scare Dem Crew member, Boom Dandimite. He died in the United States on Sunday after he fell ill on arrival from Jamaica.

The entertainer, whose given name is Herman Stewart, was still in recovery mode after a car crash in Jamaica late April. The accident occurred on Half Way Tree road near a popular bakery.

Another rising deejay, Wilful Skilful, was also injured in the accident.

Boom Dandimite was hospitalised while Wilful Skilful was discharged and sent home.

After his discharge from hospital the entertainer in the company of his family flew to the United States.

The 50-year-old father of five, collapsed after disembarking the plane in Florida last Friday and was rushed to a hospital in Orlando. He was admitted and placed on life support.

He is a very good friend of dancehall icon Bounty Killer, who on many occasions, noted Boom Dandimite for his desire to peruse the art. Bounty has not said anything publicly as yet regarding his friend’s passing.

Several other entertainers have took to social media to express sadness and remembrance.

Skatta Burrell said, “So much greatness and humbleness taken away @dancehalldandimite heart was the cleanest and realest…”

Boom Dandimite was booked to perform at Reggae Sumfest this year. He would have appeared on Festival Night 1 on July 21, alongside artistes such as Tommy Lee, Valiant, Chronic Law and fellow Scare Dem Crew alumni Harry Toddler and Nitty Kutchie, as well as General B, Gyptian and a host of others.

Boom Dandimite, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler and Elephant Man formed the chart topping Scare Dem Crew back in the 1990s.
