ONNC has learnt that he is a serving member of the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB).

Suspended Sergeant Leo Bennett, whose actions last year, the brigade said brought the organization into disrepute, is again calling on the government to address the welfare issue of firefighters.

Several emergency agencies are deployed to  the area.

Bennett’s own colleagues, are now also at the scene along with the police trying to prevent any tragedy.

Bennett in May 2022 was suspended by the brigade for a demonstration in the vicinity of the headquarters which breached the organisation’s regulations.

ONNC was told that Bennett is to attend a disciplinary tribunal on Wednesday in relation to said suspension.

A large crowd of on lookers are gathered in the busy commercial district during peak hours to watch as Bennett waved the Jamaican flag and chanted.

The firemen in Jamaica have been dominating headlines in Jamaica.

Over the weekend it was reported that three firemen attached to the Rollington Town Fire station are suspended from duties are they were charged for larceny.

The matter involved over $10,000,000 that was reportedly stolen from the New Budget Hardware during a warehouse fire on December 16 last year.

The situation in Half Way Tree is still developing.
