He has been identified as Kareem Medley.

Medley was reportedly found by fellow students unresponsive today in his room after attempts to get in contact with him failed.

He was found about 9:40am.

Medley is said to be epileptic and is from Towers Hall, Tower four.

An autopsy is to be conducted to confirm the cause of death.

Campus Registrar Dr Donovan Stanberry said the student’s parents are being notified.

A member of the campus security told ONNC that friends saw the deceased last night.

“So it had to be between last night and this morning. It appears he fell and hit his head. No foul play is suspected but the investigation will conclude that,” the security personnel said.

The UWI, Mona has made headlines in successive weeks starting with the torture of a female student by her boyfriend.

A 20-year-old student Matthew Hyde was arrested on February 10 and charged in that incident with several counts of assault.

The tertiary institution was again in the news cast a week later for an incident involving students and an armed visitor as tempers flared at a inter hall Sparta day event on February 19.

The campus police are probing all incidents.
